POPS is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to encourage the growth of the music, theater and performing arts programs for the public school students of Sandwich, Massachusetts. We work with the schools, the families and the Sandwich community to improve the music opportunities for our students.

Goals - below is
an outline of POPS' on-going goals
♪ Increase musical performance opportunities for all ages and instruments.
♪ Support teachers of performing music and theater groups.
♪ Help every interested student to pursue the performing arts through the public schools.
♪ Create a district-wide calendar of performances, events and practices.
♪ Provide parent volunteers to help with music group events and field trips.
♪ Increase the profile of musical performance in Sandwich.
♪ Provide school bus transportation for district-wide band and chorus practices.
♪ Collaborate with Cape Cod Symphony, the Cape Cod Chorale, and the larger music community to bring professional musicians into the schools.
♪ Cooperate with the schools and administrators to improve music education in Sandwich.
POPS Funded
Programs - listed below are examples of how POPS funds are spent
♪ pays for music lessons for students who cannot otherwise afford them.
♪ purchases musical instruments for the band program as needed.
♪ tunes school pianos in preparation for classroom instruction and musical performances.
♪ presents gift certificates to each Sandwich music teacher to use for music instruction.
♪ provides financial support for the music program the during on-going Sandwich Public Schools budget shortfall.
♪ funds after-school and district-wide programs such as choirs and theater.
♪ grants achievement awards for graduating Sandwich High School seniors active in the performing arts.
♪ presents gifts of recognition to seniors who participate all four years in music and theater programs.
POPS Membership -
there is more than one way to be a POPS member
Participating Members – are willing to be contacted to help at a given concert, field trip, or with specific short-term projects. No financial contribution or meeting attendance is required.
Supporting Members – contribute annual dues of $25 to go directly to supporting the performing arts in Sandwich. Most of our annual budget comes from Supporting Memberships.
Executive Members – participate in monthly POPS organizational meetings to further our goals and support the performing arts program.
Corporate Members – are companies who donate services or funds to POPS. Recognition is gladly given in return.

Come to any of our monthly meetings to see who we are and what we do. We meet the second Thursday of each month from 7-8:30 at Java Journey in the Heritage Plaza between Cotuit Road and Rte. 130.
